The full moon in August is called Sturgeon Moon because of the great number of huge freshwater fish that could once be found in lakes and rivers in North America. Other names for this full moon include Grain Moon, Green Corn Moon, Fruit Moon, and Barley Moon, all inspired by various crops that can be harvested in August.

This tour also takes place for every full moon each month, so come out and spend time enjoying a unique summer night under the full moon and take in all the sights of Milwaukee at night! Our expert and friendly guides take you through the best spots to paddle at night and share their knowledge of the city and its waterways during this special tour.

We’ll launch at dusk from downtown’s favorite river destination, The Harp, and then capture the Milwaukee River’s magic at night.

Enjoy stunning views of the city buildings lit up against the dark night sky, and see all of your favorite landmarks under the glow of the moon. Keep an eye out for the Fiserv Forum, the Performing Arts Center, the Old Firehouse, Ale House, Pabst Theater, and more.
